Parish Planning

Pastoral Council:
The Parish Pastoral Council assists the Pastor in the areas of pastoral activities. It is advisory in nature, its members are elected by the parish or appointed by the pastor, and their period of service is two years. The Parish Council meets in the Rectory monthly. The Parish Council also sponsors the Annual Parish Fair. Parishioners and other visitors are welcome to attend and present their concerns to the council. Contact the office at 341-9516.

The Council gathers thoughts, feeling and ideas from the parish community and organizations, which then provide a forum to assist the Pastor in establishing planning and policies for the Parish.  These visions then become the stimuli for programs to be designed and carried out by the pastoral staff with the support of the parish family and organizations.

Specifically, the Council acts as an advisory committee:

  • To assist the Pastor in making decisions regarding the spiritual and administrative needs of the Parish.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and clarification of the goals that address the needs and expectation of the Parish.

  • To act as a coordinator and unifier by encouraging dialogue among all the members of the Parish family and organizations.

It is important to emphasize that the Council is an advisory body and not an operational organization.  The Council considers matters important to the functioning of the Parish and provides the Pastor with suggestions and recommended solutions for his consideration.  The Pastor makes the final decision on all matters.  Operations and administration of the Parish are carried out by the pastoral staff and the many committees and organizations within the Parish family.

The Council consists of twenty to twenty-five voting members (including ex-officio members) representing the diversity of the Parish and the Pastor.   Members are selected for a two year period each May/June.  The terms are staggered with one half of the membership replaced each year.  Members are be registered, practicing, confirmed Catholics. Members are allowed to serve up to two consecutive two year terms on the council.  The Council has two officers: a Chair person, a Vice Chair person.

Finance Council:
The Committee's function is to advise the Pastor in the prudent planning and administering of all parish financial matters and the setting of policy and procedure to provide effective management of parish assets. The Committee is composed of volunteer members of the Parish appointed by the Pastor. Each Committee member accepts a 2-year term. The Committee meets in the Rectory regularly.. For more information contact the office at 341-9516.

Pastoral Hispanic:
Supports the Hispanic community by overseeing its activities. It works along with the goals of the entire parish and is represented at the Pastoral Council.
